Reservation Terms

Rental Fees, Payment, and Security Deposits

The renter agrees to pay the complete rental price, applicable taxes, delivery charges, add-on fees, and any security deposit identified during checkout, on the invoice, or in the signed agreement.

• All bookings must be paid in full at the time of reservation unless a different written arrangement is approved.
• A refundable security deposit may be required before the renter takes possession of the equipment.
• A reservation is not guaranteed until the required payment, documents, identification, and agreement are received.
• Alaska Wild Rentals may require additional information before approving remote, marine, hunting, commercial, or extended use.
• The renter may not transfer the reservation or allow an unauthorized person to assume control of the equipment.

Who May Rent

Renter and Operator Eligibility

The primary renter must be at least 21 years old and must provide a valid government-issued photo ID.

• Only individuals authorized by Alaska Wild Rentals may operate or tow the rental equipment.
• The renter must accurately describe their boating, towing, navigation, marine, river-running, or equipment experience.
• The renter must be physically and legally capable of safely operating the selected equipment.
• Alaska Wild Rentals may refuse or cancel a rental when the renter, vehicle, proposed operator, destination, load, or trip plan appears unsuitable or unsafe.
• Misrepresenting experience, passenger count, cargo, destination, intended use, or towing capability may result in cancellation without refund.

Where Equipment May Be Used

Approved Locations and Lawful Use

Rental equipment may only be used for lawful purposes and in approved locations, waterways, routes, and operating conditions.

• The renter must disclose the intended destination before pickup.
• Boats may not be taken onto unapproved rivers, lakes, marine waters, whitewater routes, or remote waterways.
• Equipment may not be used outside Alaska unless Alaska Wild Rentals provides written authorization.
• The renter must comply with all applicable federal, state, municipal, harbor, park, refuge, land-use, fishing, hunting, boating, and navigation rules.
• Commercial use, subleasing, racing, competitions, instructional use, and paid passenger transportation are prohibited unless specifically authorized in writing.
• Boats may not be overloaded or operated beyond the manufacturer’s capacity, load, passenger, horsepower, or operating limitations.

Required Conduct

Safe and Responsible Operation

The renter agrees to operate all equipment carefully, responsibly, and in accordance with instructions provided by Alaska Wild Rentals.

• Reckless behavior, racing, jumping, tricks, stunt operation, intentional grounding, and abusive use are prohibited.
• Operating while under the influence of alcohol, cannabis, illegal drugs, misused medication, or any impairing substance is prohibited.
• Passengers and cargo must be positioned and secured so they do not interfere with visibility, steering, controls, drainage, emergency equipment, or safe weight distribution.
• The renter must follow posted speed limits, no-wake areas, navigation rules, launch rules, harbor procedures, and local operating restrictions.
• Children must be supervised at all times and use properly sized flotation equipment as required by law.
• The renter may not intentionally approach wildlife, harass animals, enter closed areas, or use the equipment in a manner that damages natural resources or private property.

Operating Conditions

Weather, Water, Tides, and Route Decisions

The renter is solely responsible for checking conditions and deciding whether it is safe to launch, continue, land, anchor, cross, or return.

• Review the appropriate weather or marine forecast.
• Check wind speed, direction, waves, swell, tides, and currents.
• Check river levels, flood conditions, debris, and launch access.
• Account for cold water and rapidly changing Alaska weather.
• Maintain sufficient fuel for the route and a meaningful reserve.
• Do not continue merely because the rental period has begun.
• Turn around when conditions exceed the operator’s experience.

Alaska Wild Rentals does not guarantee weather, fish availability, hunting success, water levels, launch access, road conditions, navigability, or the suitability of conditions on any particular day.

Before Departure

Inspection and Acceptance of Equipment

The renter must inspect the equipment at pickup and report any visible damage, missing items, or operating concerns before departure.

• Photographs or a condition checklist may be used to document the equipment before and after the rental.
• The renter must ask questions when they do not understand an operating procedure, control, warning, or limitation.
• Taking possession of the equipment confirms that the renter accepts its documented condition, except for defects immediately reported to Alaska Wild Rentals.
• The renter may not modify, disassemble, drill, cut, glue, paint, rewire, reprogram, or repair equipment without authorization.
• Mechanical problems, warning alarms, overheating, unusual vibration, leaks, steering problems, or damage must be reported promptly.

Financial Responsibility

Damage, Loss, Theft, and Repairs

The renter is responsible for rental equipment from the time it is accepted until it is returned to and inspected by Alaska Wild Rentals.

• The renter is responsible for loss, theft, collision damage, grounding damage, impact damage, propeller or jet damage, punctures, tears, burns, improper fuel, water intrusion, unauthorized repairs, and missing equipment.
• The renter is responsible for damage caused by passengers, additional operators, animals, improper loading, towing, transportation, storage, or failure to protect the equipment.
• The security deposit may be partially or fully withheld while damage, missing items, cleaning, recovery, or repair costs are evaluated.
• When costs exceed the security deposit, the renter agrees to pay the remaining balance.
• Charges may include parts, labor, diagnostics, transportation, towing, recovery, cleaning, replacement, lost rental income, and other reasonable costs resulting from the damage or loss.
• Theft, vandalism, collision, or substantial damage must be reported immediately to Alaska Wild Rentals and, when appropriate, law enforcement.

Towing and Delivery

Trailers, Vehicles, and Transportation

The renter is responsible for using a safe, legal, and adequately rated tow vehicle when transporting equipment supplied on a trailer.

• The tow vehicle must have sufficient towing capacity, a compatible hitch, working lights, appropriate wiring, and any required braking equipment.
• The renter must confirm that the hitch coupler, safety chains, electrical connection, winch strap, transom straps, and cargo are secured before travel.
• The renter is responsible for tire pressure, safe driving, clearance, backing, parking, launching, loading, and securing the boat for transport.
• The equipment may not be transported by aircraft, barge, freight carrier, third party, or other transporter without written approval.
• The renter is responsible for tickets, tolls, parking fees, impound charges, launch fees, tunnel fees, ferry charges, and other transportation expenses.
• Delivery times are estimates and may be affected by weather, roads, traffic, mechanical issues, and logistics.

End of Rental

Return Time, Fuel, Cleaning, and Inspection

Equipment must be returned to the agreed location by the date and time shown on the reservation or signed agreement.

• Late returns are charged at the full daily rental rate for each day or portion of a day the equipment is late.
• Additional charges may apply when a late return disrupts another customer’s reservation, delivery, or scheduled maintenance.
• Equipment must be returned reasonably clean and free of garbage, loose bait, fish remains, blood, excessive mud, fuel spills, and personal belongings.
• Fuel tanks and batteries must be returned according to the instructions provided for the specific rental.
• Cleaning, fuel, disposal, missing-item, or excessive-condition fees may be charged when applicable.
• The rental remains the renter’s responsibility until Alaska Wild Rentals receives and inspects the equipment.

Cancellations, Rescheduling, and Refunds

Accidents and Breakdowns

Emergency Procedures and Equipment Recovery

In a life-threatening emergency, contact the appropriate emergency authority before contacting Alaska Wild Rentals.

• The renter should carry reliable emergency communication when traveling outside dependable cell coverage.
• The renter must provide accurate coordinates, condition details, passenger information, and a description of the problem.
• The renter may not abandon equipment unless remaining with it creates an immediate threat to human safety.
• Alaska Wild Rentals does not provide guaranteed emergency rescue, towing, mechanical response, or field recovery services.
• The renter may be responsible for towing, transport, search, recovery, storage, access, or rescue-related costs resulting from misuse, negligence, unauthorized operation, avoidable fuel exhaustion, grounding, or damage.

Assumption of Risk

Inherent Risks, Liability, and Indemnification

Boating, towing, fishing, hunting, camping, marine travel, river travel, and remote Alaska recreation involve serious inherent risks.

These risks may include changing weather, cold water, waves, tides, currents, rapids, shallow water, submerged objects, rocks, gravel bars, wildlife, fire, equipment failure, collision, capsizing, drowning, hypothermia, injury, property damage, delayed rescue, and death.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the renter voluntarily accepts the risks associated with the possession, transportation, and use of the rental equipment.

The renter agrees to be responsible for claims, damage, injury, loss, expenses, and liabilities arising from the renter’s operation, possession, transportation, unauthorized use, negligence, misconduct, or violation of the agreement.

The complete release, waiver, assumption-of-risk, indemnification, and limitation-of-liability provisions are contained in the signed rental agreement applicable to the reservation.

Right to Refuse or End Rental

Termination and Repossession

Alaska Wild Rentals may refuse, cancel, or immediately terminate a rental when the renter violates the agreement or creates an unreasonable safety, legal, financial, or property risk.

Reasons may include:

• Impaired or reckless operation
• Unauthorized operators or destinations
• Misrepresentation of experience or trip plans
• Unsafe towing or vehicle conditions
• Overloading or abusive use
• Failure to follow operating instructions
• Illegal activity
• Failure to make required payments
• Refusal to return the equipment
• Conduct that threatens people, property, or wildlife

No refund will be issued when termination results from the renter’s violation, negligence, misconduct, impairment, misrepresentation, or unauthorized use.
